Whether you’re just starting or want to deepen your skills, this page helps you understand what each level means and what you’ll learn. Choose the right level for your goals, and start progressing with clarity.
Levels you can reach
The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is the official scale used in Europe to describe language levels, from beginner (A1) to advanced (C2). It helps you find the French course that matches your current level — and shows where you can go next.
A1
From Scratch – Learn Basic Everyday French
Intense session:
8 weeks (1 session) / level
Are you beginning your relationship with French, or do you already have some basic knowledge? This level will provide you with a useful and solid foundation. You will learn the French needed for your basic daily life in Paris.
A2
Express Yourself Simply and Clearly
Intense session:
8 weeks (1 session) / level
You have level A1, so you’ll be able to get by in everyday life. But you want to express your basic needs and thoughts more freely in French and start grasping spoken French, which is incredibly fast.
B1
Gain Confidence in Everyday & Social French
Intense session:
B1.1 | B1.2 | B1.3: 8 weeks (1 session) / step
You have reached the survival mode in French (A2 level), and you want more. You want to be autonome, express your thoughts as you want, give your opinion, talk more about yourself. B1 level will also help you to better understanding spoken French, which is still too fast to process.
B2
Speak Fluently with Structure and Nuance
Intense session:
B2.1 | B2.2 | B2.3 | B2.4: 8 weeks (1 session) / step
You love French (sometimes not, but this how work a relationship!), but you want to go further. Improve your speaking, master debates, and dive deep into French. FTC Paris helps you achieve true fluency and live the Parisian experience.
Why B1 and B2 Are Divided into Parts at FTC Paris
At FTC Paris, we don’t treat B1 and B2 like simple steps — because they’re not. Achieve thoses levels in 2 or 4 months, maybe, but how, with which real ability in French?
Each of these levels brings together everything you’ve already learned… and asks you to go further.
That’s why we split B1 into three parts and B2 into four parts:
B1.1, B1.2, B1.3 / B2.1, B2.2, B2.3, B2.4
So you can progress without skipping, and feel your French getting stronger — step by step, for real life.
