How We Teach: The FTC Paris Intensive Method

Quick Summary
  • What is a “Session”? It is the specific name we give to our 8-week training cycles.
  • The Goal: 1 session (8 weeks) = the exact time needed to fully validate one CEFR language level.
  • The Yearly Schedule: We run 5 main sessions throughout the year, plus 1 bonus accelerated session in July.
  • Can I join for less time? Yes. While 8 weeks is the standard to clear a level, you can register for just a few weeks if your goal is to refresh your French, discover the language, or enjoy a “learning holiday” in Paris.

Most French schools tell you what they teach. We think you deserve to know how. In this guide, we break down the exact structure, tools, and philosophy behind our intensive French courses — so you can judge for yourself before you register.

Christelle’s Take

“When we meet our new students, they all share the same frustration: they studied French grammar for years, but they freeze when ordering a coffee in Paris or express their thought. We call this the ‘Bakery Paradox’. At FTC Paris, we destroy this paradox. In our Intensive Course, we use your mistakes (your try) as raw data to improve your French. We want you to feel confident, whether you are chatting with friends or negotiating in a corporate meeting. We talk to your intelligence.”

Core Training: Structured Efficiency

Our Intensive French course goes beyond textbooks. From day one, we teach the practical and cultural context of real communication: what to say, when to say it, and how to sound natural in everyday French.

We structure all lessons around six key abilities: speaking, listening, reading, writing, interaction and mediation. Each lesson provides the essential building blocks — pronunciation at sentence level, grammar and vocabulary — and you apply them immediately to real-life situations relevant to your integration in France.

Workshops

Workshops focus on performance and interaction: role-plays, debates, storytelling, and voice work. A1–A2 explore everyday Paris; B1–B2 tackle social issues and current affairs.

Engineered for Autonomy

Weekly self-study builds the foundation, ensuring your in-class time is 100% dedicated to active practice and personalized strategy.

Final Exam & Certification

Teachers evaluate progress with a CEFR-based grid. At the end of each 8-week session, you take a DELF-style mock exam (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) to measure your progress.

FAQ: Understanding Our Method

Traditional institutions often focus on academic French and literature. FTC Paris is designed for reality. We focus on bridging the gap between what you learn in books and the fast-paced French spoken in Paris streets and offices. We are smaller (max 10 students), faster, and more agile.

Absolutely. This is exactly why we created our “Safe Place” environment. In our method, mistakes are not failures; they are valuable data points. We do not judge errors; we capture them on the Live Google Doc to analyze and fix them together.

It’s up to you! You can use your smartphone, though a tablet or laptop is comfortable. The teacher does the heavy lifting: typing the vocabulary, grammar, and corrections in real-time on the screen. Your job is to focus on speaking and listening.
