DELF B1 Preparation
Prove your autonomy in French. DELF B1 certifies that you can handle daily life, express opinions, and interact with confidence. The essential stepping stone before B2.
What Is DELF B1?
DELF B1 certifies your ability to interact in everyday French situations and give your opinion on familiar topics. It’s the level of autonomy — you can handle daily life, travel, work conversations, and express yourself on subjects you care about.
Good to know: Since January 2026, French citizenship requires DELF B2 (previously B1). DELF B1 remains an essential milestone — it certifies your autonomy and is a strong foundation before targeting B2.
Why Take the DELF B1?
- Former citizenship requirement — B1 was required for naturalisation until December 2025. Since January 2026, B2 is the new minimum. B1 remains valuable for professional and personal goals.
- Professional advancement — Prove your ability to communicate in a French-speaking workplace.
- University foundation — A solid step before targeting B2 for university admission.
- Personal confidence — Officially validate that you can function independently in France.
DELF B1 Exam Structure
The DELF B1 evaluates 4 skills. Here’s exactly what you’ll face and how we prepare you.
Listening (25 min)
Understand authentic audio: radio extracts, announcements, conversations. We use pronunciation techniques to accelerate your mastery of spoken French at natural speed.
Reading (35 min)
Rapidly comprehend authentic texts on current affairs. We teach scanning strategies to manage your time and extract key information efficiently on exam day.
Writing (45 min)
Express and defend an opinion in ~160 words. We focus on pragmatic competence: “Is my message clear and well-argued?” Quantity is easy — substance is what we train.
Speaking (15 min)
Individual test: present yourself, solve a daily problem, and defend an opinion on a social issue (10 min prep). We train you on exactly what examiners expect and how to manage stress.
Our B1 Preparation Method
Saturday DELF B1 Prep — 2hrs/week
A steady, progressive approach alongside your weekday courses or work. Every Saturday, we focus on one exam skill with targeted practice and strategy.
What a Typical Saturday Looks Like
- Hour 1: Exam technique — focused drill on one skill (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) with strategy tips and timed exercises.
- Hour 2: Mock practice — apply the technique under exam conditions. Individual feedback and correction.
Guided Personal Work
Between Saturdays, practice assignments on Google Classroom. You produce, we correct and guide. Consistency over weeks builds real exam readiness.
Summer Intensive — 20h/week, 4 weeks
Full immersion in July or August. Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon. The fastest path to DELF B1.
We Talk to Your Intelligence
We don’t provide “ready-to-think” material. We accompany you to develop your own reflection in French. Two pillars: comprehension (understanding real French) and production (expressing your opinion clearly).
Weekly Mock Exams
Every Friday, a full mock DELF B1 exam scored with the official France Éducation International criteria. Individual feedback with one target: obtaining B1+ marks in every module.
French General Culture
Exam documents are based on French current affairs: education, health, ecology, work. Knowing these themes helps immensely in production tests and serves as a great foundation for DELF B2.
Guided Personal Work
5h/week of structured self-study connected to the weekly mock exam. Digital resources and comprehension tracks available in Google Classroom. You produce, we correct and guide.
