What You’ll Learn

What You’ll Learn as an Independent Speaker

We focus on “Pragmatic Competence” (Structuring discourse) and “Linguistic Nuance” (Subtlety).

Nuanced Argumentation

“Conceding to Convince”

Context: Formal Debate

At B2 level, you don’t just say “I agree”. You balance pros and cons.

Structured Argument

Clear, nuanced, convinced.

Fluency & Tact

“Disagreeing Politely”

Context: Professional Meetings

You will learn to interact with a degree of fluency that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible without strain.

  • • Take the floor firmly but politely (“Si je peux me permettre…”).
  • • Use “modalisation” to soften your criticism.

Facilitation

“Mediation & Synthesis”

Context: Building Bridges

Mediation is a key B2 skill (CEFR 2020). It’s about constructing meaning for others.

  • Synthesize: Summarize a long article for a friend.
  • Facilitate: Rephrase someone’s complex idea to clarify a misunderstanding.

Roleplay: The Meeting Facilitator

Structured Writing

“Essai Argumenté”

Write a formal opinion piece (Essai) for the DELF B2. Example: “Le bénévolat doit-il être obligatoire ?”

Key Connectors

FAQ – About the B2 Independent Level

B2 is the “Independent” level: you can manage any situation but may still make minor errors that don’t impede communication. C1 is the “Autonomous” level: you have a near-native command of nuance, style, and implicit meaning. B2 is usually enough for University.
Yes. However, you will need to take our free placement test. We check if you can already narrate events in the past and explain a problem (B1 skills).
You will learn to debate, use complex sentence structures (Subjunctive, Concession), understand fast-paced native speech (Radio France), and write formal argumentative essays.
Yes. B2 is highly valued by employers as it proves you can handle meetings, negotiations, and administrative tasks autonomously.
